Safety Tips for OwnersYou may consider monetary incentives on your lost item if it is worthwhile for you. However, some precautions to take. If you receive a contact from someone who expresses to return your lost item, please take some basic precautions: If you have offered a reward, do not give it to the returning party until you receive your lost item. Have them produce your item for inspection or have them give a detailed description. Do not meet anyone in an area where you feel unsafe. If it is possible, get a contact phone number to where you can call back to confirm their identity. Unfortunately there are people who exploit any situation for their own profit. This includes taking advantage of desperate owners of lost pets or goods. In a true story, a con-artist called an owner of a missing pet after seeing an advertising, and falsely claimed to have found it while passing through the area. The con-artist asked money for transporting the pet and vet bills. Please be aware of scams and do not become a scam victim after losing a pet or your property. We strongly advice the owners that withhold at least one key piece of information about your item in lost report. It must be something that only someone in possession of your item could know. Safety Tips for findersIf you feel uncomfortable with maintaining custody of a found item, you may take the item to your local law enforcement department or agency and let them know that Inspice can help them to find the owner. Making monetary or material demands from the owner before returning an item is prohibited on our site and may be illegal in the state or country where you reside. You may just have found an item that is being rewarded, but we do not guarantee the validity of any rewards offered by the users. We also provide an effective prevention and recovery service on various items such electronics and keys. It is free of charge. For more info, visit SmartProtec page. Your lost report may attract many finders who are very willing to return found items to owners. At the same time, your lost report may also attract con artists and spammers unfortunately. As a result you may receive some unwanted emails. In that case, you may consider followings:
Although you receive unwanted emails, your email address is still remained confidential. Inspice web site anonymous messaging system allows potential finders (and others) to contact you from your lost report without knowing your email address. In other words, the message senders do not know your email address. Spammers can not extract your email address for their mailing list. |
