Lost and Found Service Policy (example)

We provide this example for you to draft your own policy for your lost and found service.


Policy

  1. Hold: unclaimed or lost property shall be held for a period of at least 180 days.
  2. Disposal: thereafter such property, as well as abandoned property, will be disposed (either sold, donated or transferred to other organization).
  3. Location & Contact: the lost and found service is located at abc street, my town and hours are between Monday to Friday 9 pm and 5 pm. Phone number is xxx-xxx-xxxx.
  4. Online service: available 24 hours a day 7 days a week at inspice.com/your_organization_name or 1 800 555 8355 extension 1 45656.
  5. Claim & Release: some form of picture ID required before being given to the owning party.

How to Use The Service

If you found an article, simply turn it in at our service location. If you lost articles, please report lost on our web site, you will automatically be notified if the reported item is located. Inquiries concerning lost articles may be directed to our web site or the lost and found service office. Items will be released from the office and shipped to the address of claimed party. If the owner of an item is identifiable, our office will attempt to contact the owner.
